about

The Mockingbirds have written an anthem for these here times of change. It is a song of hope and inspiration that humanity is waking up to its true potential. I hope that it makes you smile, makes you feel hopeful, makes you tap your feet, and, most of all, makes you appreciate that humanity is capable of incredible beauty!

lyrics

A sound is to a song as a letter’s to a word.
Can I call myself a singer if my song is never heard?
Autumn turns to Winter when the Summer’s almost gone.
And music sings my life like the Sun alights the dawn.

You can’t annihilate the poems by burning all the books.
Sometimes the best ideas are the ones that we mistook
As aberrant or lunatic, they could be just the same
As those with louder voices whose brilliance we proclaim.

Ring the bells
Cast off your shells
It’s time we all awaken to the burden of the Spell.
Sound the alarms
Lay down your arms
Love one another for the marvel that you are.

If we heard the children’s voices would we live our lives the same?
If we looked into the eyes of the poor & sick & maimed,
Could we set aside our politics and open up our hearts
To the one connecting thread that makes our fears turn into art.

Chorus

When our hearts all beat together like the chorus of a song
And all the disenchanted realize that they belong
To a Universe that’s greater than the sum of all its parts
And we realize that we have put the horse behind the cart.

When Autumn turns to Winter then Spring’s not far behind.
When the troubadours and poets will cease to be maligned
When the architects of fear are no longer millionaires
And the teachers and the poets are in charge of our affairs.

Ring the bells
Cast off your shells
It’s time we all awaken to the burden of the Spell.
Sound the alarms
Lay down your arms
Love one another for the marvel that you are
Come to see that we have all descended from a star.
Tap your feet, snap your fingers and go pick up your guitar.
Write a song for all humanity embracing all our scars.
Sing with each other; let your voices travel far.
